Scott Curley is Chief of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC), Charleston Training Division. He has oversight responsibility for FLETC training programs and training staff, and support to Partner Organization training programs conducted at the Charleston site. These include the Seaport Security Antiterrorism Training Program, Maritime Task Force Officer Training Program and programs conducted by the U.S. Coast Guard Maritime Law Enforcement Academy, and the U.S. Courts Probation and Pretrial Services Academy. He has 19 years experience with FLETC, having served as Lead Instructor, Senior Instructor, Branch Chief and Division Chief. He has instructed terrorism, bombs and explosives, tactics, and seaport security subjects. He has been the program manager of advanced training programs in the subject areas of weapons of mass destruction, critical incident response, physical security, law enforcement media relations, seaport security, land transportation security, and critical infrastructure protection. He spent a year with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) following the 9/11 attacks as a Division Chief, and later Director of the TSA Law Enforcement Academy, Glynco, GA. He was instrumental in the development of the Federal Air Marshal training, and Federal Flight Deck Officer training. Mr. Curley is formerly a special agent with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) with 15 years service with assignments to the Narcotics, Intelligence, Organized Crime, Anti-Terrorist, and Bomb Squads, and two field office assignments. He is a graduate of the Federal Executive Institute, Charlottesville, VA; the U.S. Army Hazardous Devices School, Redstone Arsenal, AL. He attended Dekalb Community College, Georgia Southern University, and Troy State University majoring in criminal justice. Mr. Curley is a vessel captain and U.S. Merchant Marine Officer/USCG licensed Master. He is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, The Propeller Club of the United States, American Professional Captains Association, and the International Association of Marine Investigators.
Mr. Curley resides in Charleston with his wife Laura, a realtor.
