Assemblyman Gordon M. JohnsonGordon Johnson was elected to the General Assembly in 2001, where he represents the 37th District for the state of New Jersey. Mr. Johnson serves as Vice Chair of the Law & Public Safety Committee and is a member of the Transportation & Public Works Committee, as well as the Homeland Security/Domestic Preparedness Committee.

Prior to serving in the General Assembly, Mr. Johnson was an Undersheriff for Bergen County from 1999-2000 and 2002-2004, and served as Sheriff in 2001.

Gordon Johnson served with the Englewood Police Department from 1974-1999. Mr. Johnson retired in 1999 with a distinguished record of 24 years of service to the City of Englewood.

Mr. Johnson served with honor in the United States Army Reserve from 1970-1999, rising to the rank of Major. During his term of military service, Mr. Johnson served in Operation Desert Storm, as well as Operation Joint Endeavor in Bosnia.

Mr. Johnson has a Master of Arts Degree in Administration and Supervision from Seton Hall University. Mr. Johnson also graduated from the United States Army Command & General Staff College in Fort Leavenworth, KS.

Assemblyman Johnson lives in Englewood, NJ with his wife Jacqueline and has three children.
